The Allegheny Watershed Network, a project of PEC, was established in 1996 to serve as a forum for education about watershed issues; and to act as a networking hub among watershed groups, government agencies, businesses, and educational institutions in the Allegheny River watershed. AWN's publications and conferences have been successful in focusing public attention on water quality and sustainable uses in the Allegheny River.
